The terrains in the port area are conceded or let out by the port authority to terminal operators for a longer period. These operators are private companies, which guarantee the professional transshipment, handling and storage of the goods.
The terminals for high-speed traffic (containers and roro-freight) are mainly situated in the outer port. In the inner port, behind the locks, one can mainly find terminals for new cars, high & heavy loads, conventional loads and distribution centres. The companies along the Baudouin canal and in the port of Bruges mainly handle building materials and agribulk. The 'Transportzone Zeebrugge' houses transport companies and logistic service providers.
